Junior Transport Minister Sean Canney confirmed today they are looking at reducing the speed limit from 100 to 80km per hour.

A Roscommon councillor says he wouldn't be in favour of plans to reduce speed limits on National Primary and Secondary roads. Junior Transport Minister Sean Canney confirmed today they are looking at reducing the speed limit from 100 to 80km per hour.

This would affect roads like the N4 Carrick on Shannon to Longford route and the N61 connecting Roscommon to Athlone. Independent Councillor Tom Crosby thinks it's a kneejerk reaction from Government:
