The Cathaoirleach of Roscommon has paid tribute to two Castlerea boxing sisters following their silver medal wins at the IBA World Championships in Serbia.
Aoife and Lisa O'Rourke from Tarmon arrived home to Castlerea on St Patrick's Day where they received a hero’s welcome at their local boxing club.
Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice was unable to attend the event as he was representing the council in New York for St Patrick's weekend.

However, the Castlerea man said he followed Aoife and Lisa's progress through the tournament from The Big Apple.
