A company based in South Roscommon is seeking planning permission to develop over 300 car parking spaces at its premises.
Novo Nordisk submitted the application for significant works at its campus in Monskland, Athlone.
The Danish pharmaceutical firm lodged plans with Roscommon County Council to construct a temporary contractor's park and ride facility associated with the on-going refurbishment works at its premises.
It is proposed that the car park of up to 363 spaces will be in place for a period of not more than 5 years, with the site restored to its current condition upon completion of the works.
Also within the application is the proposed development of a security and welfare modular building, two bus shelters, and bus laydown area.
This comprises all associated infrastructure, including connection mains foul and water supplies, provision of drainage infrastructure, internal access routes, pedestrian crossings, site lighting, ducting and all ancillary works.
The application also includes the relocation and widening of the existing site entrance at the premises, located to the west of the South Roscommon campus.
A Natura Impact Statement has been prepared in respect of the proposed development, and a decision is due by mid-August.
