A south Longford councillor is calling for a rethink on how the local authority enacts road safety measures.
Councillor Mick Cahill believes current measures are not proving effective when it comes to slowing motorists down.
He has called on the council and the relevant strategic policy committee to review the policy on traffic calming measures in towns, villages, residential areas and at rural schools.
Speaking following the most recent council meeting, Councillor Cahill says the message is not getting through to motorists and that the strategy must adapt.
