In July, the HSE confirmed that high-risk mothers could no longer deliver their babies at the facility and were told to go to other units.

It's emerged that mothers who are not permitted to give birth at Portiuncula have been left in further limbo. In July, the HSE confirmed that high-risk mothers could no longer deliver their babies at the facility and were told to go to other units.

However, following queries sent by Roscommon-Galway TD Claire Kerrane, it's been confirmed risk assessments are yet to be completed in both Mullingar and Galway. Deputy Kerrane previously wrote to Minister Jennifer Carroll McNeil seeking an urgent meeting on the downgrade in Ballinasloe. The Sinn Féin representative feels soon-to-be mothers deserve answers:
