The Office of Public Works says 13.4 million people visited its heritage sites across the country in 2025.

The OPW says visitor numbers to Clonmacnoise were significantly up in 2025.

Figures show over 123,000 visited the historic site last year, which is an increase of around 5,000 on the year previous.

Numbers were also up at Boyle Abbey in 2025, with just under 10,000 people visiting the local heritage site.

The Corlea Trackway Visitor Centre in Co Longford seen a boost in visitor numbers last year, with an increase of around 2,500 on the figures in 2024.

However, Roscommon Castle was one local heritage site that saw a decrease last year according to the OPW.

Just over 8,000 people visited the landmark castle in 2025, which is down from over 10,000 in 2024.
