Retiring Sinn Féin councillor vows to continue his work for the party

The well-known Ballaghaderreen businessman recently announced his decision to step down as a councillor on health grounds after 20 years.

Retiring Sinn Féin councillor Michael Mulligan has vowed to continue his work for the party following his decision not to run in local elections.
The well-known Ballaghaderreen businessman recently announced his decision to step down as a councillor on health grounds after 20 years.
Cllr Mulligan caused some controversy in 2022 after he referred to Ballaghaderreen as a 'dumping ground' for refugees.

He has long been critical of the Government's support for Ballaghaderreen since the first Syrian refugees arrived in the town in 2017.
Speaking to Shannonside FM News about his decision to step down, Cllr Mulligan said it was time for a new generation of Sinn Féin candidates:
