Retirement age for Gardaí and Defense Forces members increased

It's rising from 60 to 62 for those working as Gardaí or prison officers.

The mandatory retirement age for Gardaí, prison officers and members of the Defence Forces is being increased.

It's rising from 60 to 62 for those working as Gardaí or prison officers, and Defence Forces personnel can now keep working until they're 60.

Justice Minister Helen McEntee says this has been a long time coming, and it's one measure to build stronger and safer communities:
