Members of Post Office Pensioners United protested in Longford town earlier this afternoon. They're against current financial penalties imposed on retired An Post workers. It is one of a number across the country over delays in the restoration of fair pension increases, and respect for legally protected pension rights. One of those protesting, Brendan King, a retired postman at Longford Post Office has outlined the reasons for doing so:
