Over 1 in 5 commercial units in two towns in the Shannonside region are lying vacant according to a new study.
GeoDirectory says the national vacancy rate now stands at 14.5 per cent, it's highest level since it began keeping records.
According to the report, Edgeworthstown in Co. Longford ranked third highest in the country with 28.3% whilst Boyle in Co. Roscommon came in at fourth with 27.7%.
The commercial vacancy rate in Co. Leitrim was 17.7% in December 2024, with the rate in Carrick on Shannon at 16.5%.
