Leitrim has recorded one of the lowest spends in the country for clearing up illegal dumping.
A study by Irish Country Living found rural roads, beauty spots and forestry entrances are being destroyed with waste such as hazardous material including asbestos, needles and industrial waste.
Kildare has the highest clean up costs of over half a million euro, while Leitrim recorded one of the lowest.
