A peaceful protest is taking place later today against plans to house asylum seekers in Roscommon.
It follows an application seeking an exemption to accommodate those seeking International Protection in the town.
Noel Whelan submitted the application in April to use Academy House on Goff Street as an IPAS centre.
An Bord Pleanála is due to make a decision in August after Roscommon County Council refused planning on public safety grounds.
A group called 'Roscommon Says No To IPAS' has since been set up and has organised today's demonstration.
It's due to take place at 2 o'clock this afternoon at The Square in Roscommon.
