Proceeds of crime could cover cost of CCTV cameras in Longford

Justice Minister Helen McEntee has confirmed that funding will be available for the county through a special application process for designated projects

A Longford Councillor is hoping that additional CCTV cameras might be funded from the assets of criminals seized in the county under new government plans.

Earlier this week Justice Minister Helen McEntee confirmed that under the community safety partnership pilot in the county, a fund will be established which will collate assets from criminals seized by CAB and can then be re-distributed through a special application process for designated projects.

Gerry Warnock is a former chair of the Longford Joint Policing Committee and had previously called for assets of criminals which were seized in the county not to be sent to the exchequer but to remain locally
