According to Saolta, an implementation team with key stakeholders is now being set up to further progress the recommendations and any changes required over the coming months.

Pregnant women at "high risk" being treated at Portiuncula hospital will have their care transferred to Galway University Hospital.
The development comes following a number of reviews into maternity care at Portiuncula hospital.

The external reviews were announced after concerns about nine deliveries since 2023, including two stillbirths.
According to Saolta, an implementation team with key stakeholders is now being set up to further progress the recommendations and any changes required over the coming months.
The implementation will expand the decision to other groups of higher-risk women, whose care will be transferred to Galway University Hospital or the hospital of their choice.
