Former Roscommon mayor and councillor, Michael McGreal, has confirmed he wants to take Gareth Scahill's vacant council seat.
So far, he's one of four candidates vying for the position - along with Roscommon town's Robbie McConn, Castleplunkett's Ruth Connolly-Conboy and Ballintubber solicitor Maria McCahill. The deadline for nominations is this Sunday evening.
The candidates will contest a Fine Gael selection convention on April 14th.
The winner will replace Scahill on Roscommon County Council.
