Plans to reduce speed limits on national roads, says Minister

This would affect roads like the N4 Carrick-on-Shannon to Longford route and the N61 connecting Roscommon to Athlone.

The Junior Transport Minister says there are plans to reduce speed limits on National Primary and Secondary roads. This would affect roads like the N4 Carrick-on-Shannon to Longford route and the N61 connecting Roscommon to Athlone.

Speed limits on local roads were reduced to 60km per hour last year whilst there are also now plans to reduce speed limits on roads in urban areas. Minister Sean Canney says the final reduction would see speed limits drop to 80km per hour on National Primary and Secondary roads:
