ESB Networks are seeking planning permission for an extension of their substation in Ballaghaderreen.
The plans seek the works on 1.6 hectares of land at the Tonroe substation in the townlands of Kilcolman and Ballyoughter.
The extension would include the clearance of the existing fences and vegetation and the provision of a new electrical plant and equipment.

New equipment for the site includes two new transformers, a prefabricated MV GIS unit and outdoor electrical equipment.
Roscommon County Council will decide on the issue in the coming months.
