The historic former post office in Boyle will be turned into a hostel, if planners give it the green light. The proposals are being lodged with Roscommon County Council. This historic building is on Shop Street in Boyle town. It's listed as a protected structure and served as the town's post office for over 100 years.
But An Post sold the building last year and the post office moved to the nearby SuperValu last month. The plans for the historic building have now been unveiled. Aaron Sharkey is planning on turning it into a hostel, with eight bedrooms, a takeaway coffee facility and other works. He's lodging a planning application with the council, as he seeks to alter, refurbish and change the use of the building.
