A Part 8 planning application is set to be submitted by Longford County Council for consideration of a major extension to the Albert Reynolds Peace Park in Longford Town. The plans would see the upgrade and extension of the astroturf pitch in the Mall to full FAI competition guidelines. The extension is set to use lands purchased by Longford County Council to the north of the Park and will also include additional car parking facilities.
Councillors will discuss the move at an upcoming meeting of Longford County Council, with construction to begin afterwards if approved. Local Councillor Gerry Warnock says the progress follows years of work in expanding facilities at the well known public amenity:
