The developers behind an application for two Roscommon Wind Farms has appealed their refusal by local planners.
The development by Curlew Energy Ltd sought clearance from Roscommon County Council to build the turbines in townlands including Leam, Ballybaun, Grange Beg and others near Boyle in the north of the county.
The plans would have seen two turbines of 150 metres in height, with a rotor diameter of 138m.
It was refused last month, with Roscommon planners highlighting a number of issues with the proposals.
The area selected for the construction was described as 'less favoured' for wind energy infrastructure under the Roscommon Renewable Energy Strategy.
Possible traffic impacts on a neighbouring section of the N61 were also raised by planning officials.
Public submissions regarding the original application raised concerns about the environmental impact any such development may have.
Curlew Energy Ltd has appealed the refusal of permission to An Bord Pleanála, with the higher planning authority set to decide on the case in November.
