Planning permission has been granted for the installation of 12 high-power Tesla charging bays in Longford Town.
Tesla Motors Ireland Ltd. had applied to Longford County Council to develop the bays with 12 Tesla illuminated charging units and associated signage at the N4 Axis Centre.
The project also includes the installation of 3 Tesla supercharger power cabinets and 1 substation, erection of EV signage and all associated site works.
Longford County Council granted the application after changes were made following initial concerns from Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
There were concerns that the large freestanding sign advertising the presence of the charging bays would pose a traffic hazard due to its potential to distract drivers on the trafficked national road.
The totem sign was removed from the application and the council gave the application the go-ahead subject to 7 conditions.
