Petition launched to restore Galway-Dublin Bus Eireann service

Aircoach is running a new service but it it isn't a carbon copy of the old Bus Eireann 20 and 20x service

A petition calling on Transport Minister Eamon Ryan to intervene and ensure the restoration of the Bus Éireann Galway-Dublin Expressway service has been launched.

The campaign is being mounted by Sinn Fein who say the decision to cancel the service is wrong and devastating for the communities affected.

While the initial announcement about the service was made in September of last year Sinn Fein maintains that many people hadn't actually realised that it was happening until this week.

Aircoach is running a new service which does not stop at Craughwell, Loughrea, Aughrim, Moate, or Kilbeggan, and it also leaves Ballinasloe Athlone and Maynooth with less frequent services.

Roscommon TD Clare Kerrane says it's not good enough to take further services from people who have no other options…
