Peter Burke says he wants to become the Public Expenditure Minister next year.
The Enterprise Minister and Longford-Westmeath TD told The Sunday Times: "I'd love the opportunity to serve in one of the money ministries. I wouldn't hide that absolutely one bit."
He says he believes he's "well qualified" for the role.
Tanaiste Simon Harris is the currently the Finance Minister, taking over from Paschal Donohoe recently when he quit politics, but Harris will become Taoiseach next year and there will be a reshuffle.
Fine Gael will control the Department of Public Expenditure when the coalition rotates next year.
