Patients continue to wait for a bed at local hospitals

The INMO's latest trolley watch report has been published.

Sligo University Hospital was the fourth most overcrowded in the country today.

That's according to the INMO's latest trolley watch report.

Wednesday's figures show there 54 patients waiting for a bed there this morning.

This included 26 in the emergency department and 28 on wards elsewhere.

Meanwhile, there were 14 patients waiting at Portiuncula and 9 in the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.

Dr Vida Hamilton, Clinical Lead for the HSE South East, outlines some of the respiratory conditions contributing to the high volume of patients.
