Overcrowding issues persist at local hospitals

Almost 50 admitted patients were on trolleys in local hospitals this morning.

Almost 50 admitted patients were on trolleys in local hospitals this morning.

There were 29 waiting at Sligo University Hospital, with 15 and 5 in the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar and Portiuncula respectively.

University Hospital Limerick accounts for the largest number of those, with 60 followed by Cork University Hospital with 49 and University Hospital Galway with 23.

Of the total number of people waiting for beds, 271 were in emergency departments while 131 were in wards elsewhere, according to the INMO.
