Overcrowding continues in hospitals

The Health Minister says there's been a 10 per cent reduction in the daily 8am trolley count.

A local hospital was one of the busiest once again this morning as overcrowding continues nationally.

Sligo University Hospital had 38 patients waiting on trolleys according to the latest trolley watch report by the INMO

Only University Hospital Limerick, University Hospital Galway, & Cork University Hospital have more patients on trolleys this morning.

Meanwhile Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar have just 4 admitted patients waiting for a bed.

The Health Minister says there's been a 10 per cent reduction in the daily 8am trolley count, despite an increase in emergency department presentations.

Jennifer Carroll MacNeill says progress has been made, with a quarter fewer patients on trolleys following the St. Brigid’s Bank Holiday weekend.
