More than half of detected crimes in the Shannonside region in 2024 were associated with re-offending.
Published by the CSO, data from the Garda pulse system shows 2,764 detected incidents were recorded in the Roscommon-Longford division over the year.
Of these, 1,627 incidents - 58.86 per cent - were linked to individuals with previous offending history.

A separate dataset from the Sligo-Leitrim division, saw 2,263 detected incidents in 2024.
1,316 of those or 58.15 per cent were linked to a someone who had at least one previous detection.
Nationally, 61 per cent of crimes were linked to re-offenders; while theft incidents accounted for the highest suspect re-offences.
