Over €950,000 has been allocated to Outdoor Recreation Projects in the Shannonside region. Minister for Rural and Community Development Dara Calleary announced funding for 221 projects across the country this morning. Roscommon received the largest amount from today's funding announcement with €358,000. Some of the projects set to benefit is the Greyway between the Drumsna Bridge and the Jamestown Bridge and the County Roscommon Community Trail plan. Both projects have been allocated €50,000 each.
€315,000 worth of funding is set to go to projects in Co. Leitrim. The ACRES Lake in Drumshanbo will receive €45,000 towards the development of a car park whilst almost €40,000 is set to go to the Sheemore walkway upgrade at Leitrim Village. Finally €290,000 has been allocated to projects in Co. Longford following todays announcement. Some projects set to benefit are the Aughnacliffe Heritage Trail and Ballinalee Walkway with both projects receiving €40,000.
