Over €60,000 worth of funding allocated to local playgrounds

It's out of a total of €600,000 awarded to thirty local authorities under the Capital Grant Scheme for Play and Recreation.

Over €60,000 has been earmarked for playgrounds across the Shannonside region. It's out of a total of €600,000 awarded to thirty local authorities under the Capital Grant Scheme for Play and Recreation. Just over €21,000 will go towards upgrades at the Green Edgeworthstown Playground in Co. Longford, while €19,500 has been awarded to Portrunny playground in Knockcroghery, Co. Roscommon. The most funding was awarded to Dristernan Playground in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim, with €22,000 to be spent in inclusion and accessibility upgrades at the site. Drumshanbo councillor Enda McGloin says this will ensure local playgrounds are enjoyable for all children:

Meanwhile, a Roscommon councillor has welcomed the funding for Portrun playground. Fine Gael's Ruth Conboy says the money will support the upkeep of the popular amenity:
