Over €10.4 million worth of carers payments are due to be issued across the Shannonside region this week.
The Carer's Support Grant is available to all carers providing full-time care to an older person or a person with a disability, regardless of their means or social insurance contributions.
The payments will be received by 2,325 carers in Co. Roscommon, 1,737 carers in Co. Longford and 1,158 in Co. Leitrim.
Over 147,000 people across the country will receive the €2,000 grant in their post office or bank account on Thursday.
Around 18,000 carers are providing care for two or more people, and they'll receive a grant for each person they care for.
