Over 8,000 patients including 75 children were admitted to hospital without a bed this month. The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show University Hospital Limerick was the busiest facility in the country with over 2-thousand patients waiting on trolleys in May. This was followed by University Hospital Galway with 919 patients.
Sligo University Hospital was the most overcrowded hospital locally with 370 patients waiting for a bed this month. Elsewhere, there were 85 waiting on trolleys at the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar this month and 11in Portiuncula University Hospital.
