Over 600 drivers caught speeding during bank holiday safety campaign

Among them was a vehicle travelling at 145 kilometres per hour in a 100km zone in County Roscommon.

Over 600 vehicles have already been detected speeding this bank holiday weekend.

Among them was a vehicle travelling at 109 kilometres per hour in a 60km zone in Dublin - a motorist doing 120 kilometres per hour in an 80km zone in County Donegal - and another travelling at 145 kilometres per hour in a 100km zone in County Roscommon.

Gardaí have rolled out a major road safety campaign across the weekend, focusing on speed and distracted driving.
