Figures for July show the number of people registered as homeless across the country has hit another record high.

A total of 63 homeless people in the Shannonside region were in emergency accommodation last month. Figures for July show the number of people registered as homeless across the country has hit another record high. 16,058 people were registered as homeless last month - the first time the figure has topped 16,000. That's 11,044 adults, and 5,014 children.

63 people were registered in the Shannonside region last month. The Department of Housing says there were 27 in Leitrim, 19 in Roscommon and 17 in Longford. These numbers don't include those who are sleeping rough, women in refuge centres, asylum seekers, refugees or the so-called 'hidden homeless'.
