There were over 60 patients waiting for a bed at local hospitals this morning. That's according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation figures, which show over 400 patients were waiting for a bed at facilities nationwide. Sligo University Hospital is the busiest in the region and fourth busiest in the country today with 40 people waiting for bed. This includes 27 in the Emergency Department and 13 elsewhere in the hospital.
Meanwhile, there were 10 and 1 patients on trolleys at Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar and Portiuncula University Hospital respectively. Nationally, there are 425 patients waiting for a bed in hospitals today. University Hospital Limerick is the busiest facility in the country with 63 people waiting on trolleys.
