There are over 4,000 working family payment recipients in the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
The figures come following a parliamentary question Dublin Fingal West Deputy Catherine Ardagh to Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary.
The Working Family Payment (WFP) is a weekly tax-free payment for employees with children.
It supports people who are on low pay.
You must be an employee to get WFP. You cannot get it if you are self-employed only.
You must have at least one child, under 18 who normally lives with you or who you support financially.

Cavan sees the largest amount with 1,078 followed by Monaghan with 997.
There are 751 in Longford and 748 in Roscommon.
Leitrim sees the smallest number of recipients locally at 340.
