Over 400 people have been waiting over five years for treatment in Galway and Sligo university hospitals.
The new figures have been released by the National Treatment Purchase Fund, under the Freedom of Information Act.
A total of 212 people have been waiting over five years for their first outpatient consultation in Galway University Hospital - which involves University Hospital Galway and Merlin Park University Hospital.
Of those, 176 are waiting for respiratory medicine and 16 are waiting for eye care.
54 people have been waiting over five years for their first outpatient consultation in Sligo University Hospital.
A further 153 people have been waiting over five years for an appointment for their inpatient or daycase treatment in Galway University Hospitals.
