There are over 2,600 children on CDNT waiting lists in the Shannonside region. The figures come following a parliamentary question by Longford-Westmeath TD, Sorca Clarke to Minister for Children, Norma Foley. A Children's Disability Network Team is a local group of health experts. They support children up to the age of 18 who have complex needs due to a disability.
These experts include therapists, social workers, and nurses who work together with families and children. Data for the end of March 2026 shows the HSE Dublin Midlands region, which includes Longford has a total of 2252 children waiting. Counties Leitrim and Roscommon are included in the HSE West and North West region which has 452. Overall, 8,200 children are waiting nationally.
