Over 2,600 cars across the Shannonside region were licensed for the first time so far this year.
That's according to the most recent figures published by the CSO for the month of April.
The Central Statistics Office is reporting the overall number of new private cars licensed last month fell by 8 per cent when compared with April 2025.
Across the Shannonside region, 635 vehicles were licensed for the first time last month.
The highest number was in Co. Roscommon at 539, while 50 were registered in Longford and 46 in Leitrim.
The number of new private electric cars licensed in April 2026 rose by 73 per cent compared with April 2025.
While nationally Toyota was the most popular make of new private car licensed last month.
