Over 14,800 motorists across the region have received penalty points on their licence so far this year.
The top five penalty point offences include speeding, holding a mobile phone while driving, and driving without reasonable consideration.
The most recent report by the RSA provided a breakdown of the number of drivers who had penalty points on their licence as of June of this year, as well as the number of offences committed by type.
In the Shannonside region, the highest number of motorists who were issued penalty points was in Co. Roscommon, at a total of 6,686.
This is followed by Co. Longford at 5,006 drivers, and 3,112 in Co. Leitrim.
While the top number of motorists driving while holding a phone in the region was in Co. Roscommon, at 823 offenders, followed by 545 in Co. Longford.
Speeding was the area that saw most offences in the Shannonside region, with a total of 12,550 motorists caught driving beyond the limit as of June 2025.
Nationally, over 514,000 drivers have had penalty points on their licence so far this year.
