Over 140 people across the Shannonside region are now homeless

There's been a 40 percent increase in those accessing emergency accommodation nationwide since February.

Over 140 people across the Shannonside region are homeless. The figure is part of a national record rise of homeless people since March and includes over 4,600 children and over 2,000 families. County Westmeath holds the highest number of people accessing emergency accommodation in the region, at 86. This is followed by 22 in County Longford, 20 in County Leitrim, and 15 in County Roscommon.

The numbers are part of a 40% increase nationally since February. But research and policy analyst with Social Justice Ireland, Susanne Rogers, says not all homeless people have been accounted for:
