No new Gardaí have been allocated for Roscommon-Longford from the newest batch of graduates. It follows the attestation of 167 new Gardaí at Templemore College today. 104 of those will be deployed to Dublin Metropolitan Region, 21 assigned to the Southern Region, 31 to the Eastern Region and 11 to the North-Western Region.
Fine Gael Senator Gareth Scahill says that while one recruit will be stationed in Castlebar, the rest of the Mayo-Roscommon-Longford division has been overlooked. He's calling for more Gardaí to be allocated to Roscommon and Longford:
