Leitrim County Council has confirmed that mobile generators for the use in major storms won’t be available until next year.
Three emergency generators had been promised to each local authority for use in community hubs.
It followed widespread damage and power outages caused by Storm Éowyn earlier this year.
Director of Services David Minton told members of Ballinamore Municipal District this week that the generators won’t be available until the end of the first quarter of 2026.
Carlow County Council, acting on behalf of the Local Government sector, is overseeing the procurement process.
