No properties are available to rent within Housing Assistance Payment limits in Co Leitrim or Athlone.

HAP is a form of social housing support for those on low incomes.

Co Leitrim and Athlone were two of the 16 areas around the country surveyed by Simon in a new report.

An average of 13 properties were available to rent in Co Leitrim during each day during the study.

None were available within HAP limits - and monthly rents went from €1,000 to €1,700.

An average of 16 properties were available to rent in Athlone each day during the study period.

There were no properties available within HAP limits - with monthly rents ranging from €850 to €2,300.
