No commitment from Health Minister on Ballinasloe maternity services

A number of local public representatives have called on the Health Minister to commit to safeguarding Portiuncula maternity services.

The Minister for Health won't commit to safeguarding the future of high-risk maternity services at Portiuncula University Hospital.

It follows the HSE's decision to move the care of high-risk expectant mothers to Galway University Hospital.

The decision comes on the back of a review into the delivery of nine babies there, including two who were stillborn.

A number of local public representatives have called on the Health Minister to commit to safeguarding Portiuncula maternity services.

Speaking to Dan Dooner in Sligo today, Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill says there would be no reversal of the decision:
