The friendship between Longford Town and its twinned commune in France has been celebrated at the official opening of a new sensory playground.
'The Sunflower Park' was officially opened by Rural and Community Development Minister Dara Calleary on Thursday evening.
The amenity is located at the former Greyhound Track on Park Road, and was designed for young people with intellectual and physical disabilities.
A sculpture named 'Fraternity' was erected at the entrance of the park to pay tribute to Longford Town's twinning project with Noyal-Chatillon-sur-Seiche in northwestern France.
Speaking at the official opening of the playground, Longford councillor Kevin Hussey said it's important to foster Longford's relationship with other areas around the world.
