New project to tackle plastic pollution launched by TUS

They are building new sustainable solutions for plastic.

A 2.9 million euro project aimed at tackling plastic packaging pollution has been launched by Technological University of the Shannon.

The project, PerPETual, which is led by researchers at the Athlone campus hopes to create technology that will reduce landfill and allow some plastics such as bottles and containers to be recycled.

Researchers say the new machinery will be the first of its kind globally.
