A new Garda Superintendent will be assigned to Longford by early May.
Outgoing Superintendent Michael Dorrigan took up the position in August 2024, and is now being transferred to Dundalk Garda Station.
Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly has come under fire because of the transfer, with local politicians urging him not to leave Longford without a superintendent.
The Irish Independent is reporting Superintendent Dorrigan will switch to Dundalk as early as next Monday.
