A local councillor has welcomed news of a new bus route to serve the Ballinasloe and Athlone areas.
Transport For Ireland has confirmed that the enhanced Local Link 548 route will commence from next Monday.
It will include services on the weekend for the first time with four daily return trips from Monday to Sunday.

There will also be peak-time and evening services, connecting regional bus routes and Ballinasloe and Athlone Train Stations.
The areas of Summerhill, Cornafulla, and Clonark will be included in the new enhanced route.
