New draft planning guidelines for rural housing have been launched. Minister for Housing James Browne and Minister of State John Cummins proposals will look to ease some planning restrictions. The aim of this draft National Planning Statement is to provide more consistency around rural housing.
It is seeking to allow new rural homes to be built, along with preventing urban sprawl, as well as regenerating rural towns and villages. Local Minister of State, Marian Harkin feels the measures are needed:
