Serious questions are being raised over the Mercosur trade deal after a recall of Brazilian beef from EU markets.
The recall follows the discovery of banned hormones in beef exported from Brazil to the EU.
The banned hormones were detected in shipments that arrived into Europe earlier this month.
Authorities in a number of countries have removed affected products from sale, and issued recalls where necessary.
It coincides with a report on the findings of an IFA/Irish Farmers Journal investigation on production standards for Brazilian beef.
